Information

The Virtual Teaching Unit (UDV), responsible for guiding and supporting faculty in the use and integration of ICT in university teaching at ULL, offers a comprehensive service of technical support, advice, and consultancy for the entire university community.

If you would like more information about UDV's areas of activity or wish to send any questions or suggestions, you can contact us through the channels provided on this page.

Email (unidov@ull.es) is the recommended method for any type of inquiry. It is quick and efficient.

There is a wide range of documentation and resources available on ULL's Virtual Campus as well as the software it runs on (Moodle). Below, the initial materials considered most relevant are highlighted.

Types of Users of the Virtual Campus

There are three types of users in the Virtual Campus, which determine their method of access based on the type of identification:

Type Identification
Students The identifier for students enrolled in official ULL programs is constructed with the prefix “alu” followed by the University Identification Number (NIU), for example: alu0100000000. If you do not know your NIU or your access key you can try to recover them through the profile management tool. If this does not work, you should contact the Information and Information and Communication Technologies Service (STIC). Students access the Virtual Campus via the option "Students, Faculty, and Staff of ULL".
Faculty and Staff (PDI and PAS) The identifier for faculty (PDI) and administrative staff (PAS) is the same as the one used to access ULL’s email service. If you do not know it, you should contact the Information and Communication Technologies Service (STIC) to request your username and a new password. They access the Virtual Campus via the option "Students, Faculty, and Staff of ULL".
External Users This group includes certain students in University Extension courses, participants in agreements with the University, collaborators, or researchers from other universities or institutions outside ULL, etc. The identifier for these users is the ID or equivalent identification document (FIN, passport, etc.) To request a username and password, it is necessary to contact the UDV. They access the Virtual Clampus via the option "External Users".

Virtual Environments

The Virtual Campus is organized in virtual environments that cover the different activities carried out by the university community. Currently, the following environments exist:

If required, as a teacher, you can request access to the content of previous courses in the institutional virtual teaching environments from the Virtual Teaching Unit, by appointment.

Enrollment of Students in a Virtual Classroom

If a virtual classroom for any of your registered courses does not appear, you should contact the course instructor, who will provide you with an enrollment key. Once you have the key, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Virtual Campus at https://campusvirtual.ull.es/.
  2. Authenticate using your institutional credentials (for Students, Faculty, and Staff) or as an External User.
  3. Enter the virtual environment where the course is listed via the menu at the top right.
  4. Click on the "Search for a course" link in the virtual environment.
  5. Search for and access the virtual classroom you wish to enroll in (virtual classrooms are categorized by degree program, academic year, etc.).
  6. Once you have located the virtual classroom, you will need the “Enrollment Key” provided by the course instructor.
  7. After completing this process, you will be enrolled in the virtual classroom, and it will appear in your Virtual Campus.

Basic Configuration of a Virtual Classroom

Virtual classroom visibility

In the virtual classroom, as long as you have the role of teacher-editor, the “edit settings” section will appear in the “administration block”. When you access it, you will find the Course visibility option, which appears as “hide” by default, making the classroom inaccessible to students (they will see a message saying “This classroom is not in use”). You must change the setting to “show” and save the changes so that students can access it.

Manual student registration

To manually register one or more students in your virtual classroom, go to Participants in the left-hand column. Once there, click on the “Register Users” button in the upper right-hand corner and a search engine will appear. When searching, we recommend using the person’s institutional email address. Next, select the student, select the role of “Student” and to save or register click on “Enroll Users”.

Virtual classroom access password

By default, all virtual classrooms have an access code. The password can be found in the Administration Block by going to “Users” and then “Enrollment Methods”. A table will appear with several methods. You will need to edit the one called “Self-enrollment (Student)”, where you find the following options:

Parameters Description
Registration code
  • By default, you will find a password assigned by the system, which you can view by clicking on the eye icon. We recommend that you change or customize it. When it is reset, you must communicate it to your students so that they can register in the virtual classroom. The password is case sensitive and can be any length.
Duration of enrollment
  • It must be kept at 0 days, otherwise the system will deregister students after the specified number of days.
Attention
If the Administration block is not enabled in your virtual classroom, access the menu options via the gear icon in the upper right corner.

Procedure for Backup and Restoration of Virtual Classrooms

To recover a virtual classroom and copy its content to a different classroom, you need to perform the Backup and Restoration procedure, which can be followed using the document provided:

Access to the backup and restoration guide

The basic steps are as follows

  1. Go to the virtual classroom from which you want to create a backup.
  2. In the upper right corner of the classroom, you will find a gear icon. Open the gear menu and click on “Backup”.
  3. The backup will be saved as a file (.mbz), which you need to download by right.clicking on “Download” and selecting “Save link as…”, allowing you to choose the location on your computer where the backup file will be stored.
  4. Once the backup is complete, navigate to the new virtual classroom where the backup information will be restored. Open the gear icon menu and click “Restore”.
  5. The next step is to upload the (.mbz) backup file from your computer.
  6. After the file has been uploaded, select “Restore” and then “Continue”.
  7. In the option “Restore into this course”, choose “Merge the backup into this course” and click “Continue” again.
  8. To complete the process, proceed to the final step and click “Perform restoration”. The next screen will confirm that the restoration has been successfully completed.

Mobile APP access

The official Moodle app is free and available for Android and iOS, and can be found in their respective app stores:

Once installed, when you open the app, it will ask you for the “Site address.” You will need to add the URL of the ULL Virtual Campus environment you wish to access. These are the corresponding site addresses:
