Types of Virtual Campus Users
There are three types of users in the Virtual Campus, that determine their method of access based on the type of identification:
| Type | Identification |
|---|---|
| Students | The identifier for students enrolled in official ULL programmes is formed with the prefix “alu” followed by the University Identification Number (NIU), for example: alu0100000000. If you do not know your NIU or your access key, you can try to recover them using the profile management tool. If this does not work, you should contact the Information and Communication Technologies Service (STIC). Students access the Virtual Campus via the option "Students, Faculty, and Staff of ULL". |
| Teaching and Administrative Staff (PDI and PTGAS) | The identifier for teaching (PDI) and administrative staff (PTGAS) is the same as the one used to access ULL's email service. If you do not know it, you should contact the Information and Communication Technologies Service (STIC) to request your username and a new password. They access the Virtual Campus via the option “Students, Teaching, and Administrative Staff of ULL”. |
| External Users | This group of users is broad and includes certain students enrolled in University Extension courses, participants in agreements with the University, collaborators, or researchers from other universities or institutions outside ULL, etc. The identifier for these users is their ID or equivalent identification document (NIE, passport, etc.) To request a username and password, it is necessary to contact the Virtual Teaching Support Unit (UDV). They access the Virtual Campus via the option "External Users". |
Virtual Environments
The Virtual Campus is organised into virtual environments that encompass the different activities carried out by the university community. Currently, the following environments are available:
- Institutional 2025/2026: Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Institutional 2024/2025: Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year.
- Training 2025/2026: Training provided by the Library Service, the Training Programme for Teaching and Administrative Staff (PDI and PTGAS), University Extension courses, etc.
- Training (previous courses): Training provided by the Library Service, the Training Programme for Teaching and Administrative Staff (PDI and PTGAS), University Extension courses, etc.
- Collaborative Workspace: Space designated for committees, research groups, departments, innovation projects, etc.
- Schools and Faculties: Management spaces for schools and faculties, such as virtual classrooms for bulletin boards, committees, etc.
- Open Course Ware: Open-access materials for different subjects and courses.
Student enrolment in Virtual Classrooms
If a virtual classroom for any of your registered courses does not appear, you should contact the course instructor, who will provide you with an enrollment key. Once you have the key, follow these steps:
- Access the Virtual Campus at https://campusvirtual.ull.es/.
- Log in using your institutional credentials (for Students, Teaching, and Administrative Staff) or as an External User.
- Enter the virtual environment where the course is listed via the menu at the top right.
- Click on the Search for a course link within the virtual environment.
- Search for and access the virtual classroom you wish to enrol in (virtual classrooms are organised by degree program, academic year, etc.).
- Once you have located the virtual classroom, you will need the Enrolment Key provided by the course instructor.
- After completing this process, you will be enrolled in the virtual classroom, and it will appear in your Virtual Campus.
Basic Configuration of a Virtual Classroom
Virtual classroom visibility
In the virtual classroom, as long as you have the teacher-editor role, the Edit settings section will appear in the Administration block. When you access it, you will find the Course visibility option, which appears as Hide by default, making the classroom inaccessible to students (they will see a message saying "This classroom is not in use"). You must change the setting to Show and save the changes to make the classroom accessible to students.
Manual student registration
To manually register one or more students in your virtual classroom, go to Participants in the left-hand menu. Then click the Register Users button in the top right-hand corner, and a search box will appear. When searching, we recommend using the person's institutional email address. Next, select the student, assign the role Student and choose Enrol Users to save.
Virtual classroom access password
By default, all virtual classrooms have an access code. The password can be found in the Administration block by going to Users and then Enrolment Methods. A table listing several methods will appear. You will need to edit the one named Self-enrolment (Student), where you will find the following options:
| Parameters | Description |
|---|---|
| Registration code |
|
| Duration of enrolment |
|
If the Administration block is not enabled in your virtual classroom, access the menu options via the gear icon in the top right corner.
Backup and Restoration Procedures for Virtual Classrooms
To recover a virtual classroom and copy its content to a different classroom, you need to perform the Backup and Restoration procedure, which can be followed using the document provided:
Access to the backup and restoration guide
The basic steps are as follows
- Go to the virtual classroom from which you want to create a backup.
- In the upper right corner of the classroom, you will find a gear icon. Open the gear menu and select Backup.
- The backup will be saved as a file (.mbz), which you need to download by right-clicking on Download and selecting Save link as…, allowing you to choose the location on your computer where the backup file will be stored.
- Once the backup is complete, navigate to the new virtual classroom where the backup information will be restored. Open the gear icon menu and click Restore.
- The next step is to upload the (.mbz) backup file from your computer.
- After the file has been uploaded, select Restore and then Continue.
- In the option Restore into this course, choose Merge the backup into this course and click Continue again.
- To complete the process, proceed to the final step and click Perform restoration. The next screen will confirm that the restoration has been successfully completed.
