Degree in Pharmacy with a Health Orientation from the University of La Laguna . Bachelor's Degree (Thesis) with the title: "Application of Molecular Biology Techniques in the Diagnosis and Characterization of Cryptosporidium sp.," conducted at the Department of Parasitology, Ecology, and Genetics of the University of La Laguna, with an Outstanding grade.  PhD in Pharmacy from the University of La Laguna, with a Doctoral Thesis titled: "Gene Characterization and Study of Antigenicity of Conserved Proteins in Trypanosomatids". Grade: Outstanding Cum Laude.

Associate Professor of Parasitology at the University of La Laguna (ULL). She has been the Academic Director of the Master’s Degree in Research and Diagnosis of Tropical Diseases at ULL between 2015 and 2023, and Academic Director of the Postgraduate Degree in Professional Advice in the Pharmacy Office in its first (2020) and second editions (2021-22).

Her main line of research is conducted at the University Institute of Tropical Diseases and Public Health of the Canary Islands-ULL, focusing on large-scale transcriptomic analysis of the immune response during leishmaniasis, using experimental mouse models.

She has carried out research at various international institutions such as the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UK), the Wellcome Laboratories for Molecular Parasitology at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (UK), and the López-Neyra-CSIC Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine, in Granada.

Short CV:

PhD in Biology from the University of La Laguna, where she also completed her Bachelor's degree and Master's in Food Safety and Quality. She has been affiliated with the University Institute of Tropical Diseases and Public Health of the Canary Islands at this University since 2009, where she is responsible for the Water and Environmental Laboratory.

From this laboratory, she provides biological water quality control services to various companies. Additionally, within the research line of water quality, she participates in projects aimed at improving purification systems by optimizing and developing new technologies to enhance the quality of reclaimed and discharge water, reducing environmental impact, and increasing resource reuse. Another of her research areas is Aeromicrobiology, where collaboration has been established with several local, national, and international groups. In this field, she works to characterize microbial communities present in the air and to understand the influence of Saharan air intrusions that affect the archipelago.

She has also been engaged in teaching duties at the University of La Laguna, through the venia docendi, and at other institutions (ESSSCAN, FUNCCET, FGULL) since 2011. Every academic year, she supervises students from various degrees for external internships as well as for the development of Bachelor’s (TFG) and Master’s (TFM) theses in the research areas developed in her laboratory.

In terms of outreach, she participates in various initiatives by FGULL and ULL to promote scientific dissemination and gives seminars to promote science by conducting workshops to foster knowledge of microbiology.
